Year 7 French Club from Oxclose Community Academy paired with Year 10 & 11 mentors and visited us on 6th December with their teacher Ms. Kerri Smith.
The programme included:

• Cross-cultural Communication Sessions with Tom Snell in the Language Resource Centre

• Spanish Taster Sessions with Emily Marsh in the Language Resource Centre

• Simultaneous Interpreting: communicating at the U.N with Tom Snell in one of our Digital Interpreting Suites

• Campus Tours of Newcastle University in French with the Student Team

• Q&A: Pupils had the chance to ask the Student Team about University life and studying languages

• Planning Session – Storyboard Preparation with Kerryanne Higgens & the Student Team in one of our Language Labs

• Computer Aided Language Learning: Creation of a French Animated Film Storyboard with Kerryanne Higgens & the Student Team in a Language Lab

• Why Study French and Other Languages Beyond GCSE? Discussion led by Tom Snell in the Language Resource Centre

• Presentations & Evaluations with Tom Snell the Language Resource Centre

Sacred Heart Catholic High School (5th February)

Year 10 Pupils of Spanish from Sacred Heart Catholic High School visited on the 5th of February with their teacher Mr. Harman.

The programme included:

• Taster Sessions in Japanese language and culture with Ayano Hori & Miki Aoki.

• Taster Sessions in Russian language and culture with Ian McCardle.

• a new Sound & Vision Session based on short films in Spanish.

• Campus Tours of Newcastle University in Spanish.

• an introduction to Simultaneous Interpreting and group oral/interpreting exercises in one of our Digital Interpreting Suites.

• Q & A sessions with current undergraduate students about University Life and studying languages.
• a Computer Aided Language Learning sessions and animated video creation in one of our Digital Language Labs.

John Spence Community High School (13th February)

Year 9 Pupils from John Spence Community High School visited on the 13th of February with their teacher Ms. Ward.
